All of that aside it is not American territory and it won’t be unless it is taken by force against the will of the people that live there (and Denmark). People don’t like be threatened in particular by countries which they’re allied with. |

Today, Greenland is recognized as an autonomous country within the Kingdom of Denmark. They are fighting for their own independence currently, and do not want to be ruled by Denmark.
