FOSS projects should register their domains with providers that allow anyone to pay the fee for a domain, even if they don't own it. then, instead of depending on one person, anyone in the community can pay directly to ensure that the domain is renewed.

i am afraid i don't have a good answer for now. it used to be gandi, and they may still support it, but since they sold out they massively raised the prices so they can no longer be recommended.

Yes, I switched from namecheap to gandi some years ago. But it went to shit lately
