Many mammals have become nocturnal in order to avoid humans. In Central Europe, most of the big game (boars, deer etc.), but also foxes and hares have become nocturnal. The great exception is the Exclusion Zone around Chernobyl, where they all have reverted to diurnal life and tourists will quite often encounter something like a fox walking right in the middle of a road, looking at them with curiosity. Everywhere else, that would be sign of rabies, but there, it is the original normal behavior. |
