Ha, my next-door neighbor spent COVID rebuilding his CTS-V engine and the next time he went to a track day they told him he had to wear a flame-retardant suit from now on because he broke 10 seconds over whatever the standard time/distance is.

Ah yeah, drag racing (1/4 mile usually) has time/speeds they require upgraded safety. Helmet, roll bar, full cage, etc.

I was racing on a road circuit. We all had full safety kit in the race cars. But instructing in fast street cars is what effectively scared me off. I wasn’t required to instruct, but it did offset the expense some.
