I notice with disappointment that none of the discussions even entertain the problem of software patents.

Please stop using BSD/MIT licenses. Apache2+llvm extension, MPL2 are basically the same, but they also have patent protections for the users.

There are other options. You and your users and not protected from present and future patent trolls without a patent clause.
