> cite wanting things to "just work", often claiming that they "don't want making the computer work to become a second job" I feel this way, yet I've used Linux on the desktop for a decade before, even selecting my hardware for compatibility. Yet even when using "stable" distros like Ubuntu, it did require maintenance regularly. With more hyped distros like Arch it was constant. Sure I was always able to fix it, but I had to do it. I installed Windows back when I started having kids. I just don't have the time and mental space anymore to dedicate to fixing the OS regularly. I need to be able to let updates happen and not wonder whether I need to have 20 minutes free afterwards to fix something. |
