Too many chatbots maintain a relentlessly 'positive tone' anyway, and sometimes a negative situation calls for honestly negative tones.

Fully agree. In the LLMediator, the function is used to nudge people towards a more constructive tone by suggesting alternative formulations, but in the end the user is in control in what they want to say and how of course.

It's not exactly hard for humans in dispute to conjure up negative tones.
