Ask HN: What's with the Wargames-like UX lately?
4 points by beatthatflight 69 days ago
For a while, anything with a purple gradient was likely a claude inspired design.

I think there was a period where Gemini(?) also seemed to produce blue/purple retro sci-fi designs? eg https://www.howclosetoblackmirror.com/

Now suddenly (to me) in the last couple of weeks, a lot of front page submissions have been, for want of a kinder phrase, painful on the eyes. Wargames esque. Provided by Big Epilepsy?

Some examples (Again, apologies, I mean no (maybe a little) disrespect to the site owners but it is a personal affront to my senses):

- The infographic here - https://techtrenches.dev/p/the-human-cost-of-10x-how-ai-is-physically - Are we Idiocracy - https://idiocracy.wtf/ - AI Stupid Level - https://aistupidlevel.info/ - Petagon Pizza Index - https://www.pizzint.watch/

Is this a particular Claude skill that trends to it? Or just some sort of frequency illusion cognitive bias?

You're right, for a while Claude was doing purple-tinged UIs and now it's making retro-terminal designs: http://mirrorball.textfiles.com/CYBERSPACE/
(apologies for formatting)
(just add two line-breaks between links; hn needs them otherwise if it's just one line-break it'll smoosh it all into one line)
