Those are YouTube ads. YouTube shows more ads in embedded videos than when watched on YouTube itself.

They didn't look like YT ads (visually the UI was different) - I also have YouTube Premium and it has no ads.

Yes, these additional ads on embedded videos are often even shown to YouTube Premium subscribers, because the embedded widget doesn't have access to cookies to tell you are a subscriber. I think it depends on how the site configures CORS.
