When I started taking pre-orders for my failed Bitcoin hardware company in 2011, people were willing to wire $100K with almost no verification that our hardware existed (it did not), never mind whether it worked (it never did). We never accepted a single order, partly because I wasn’t willing to just YOLO it before I had equity investors who could take the risk instead of hapless consumers. On reflection, I should have taken their money. |
