If you're on Pro, Group Policy tends to be more stable than plain registry tweaks. In particular, I advise everyone to turn off web search in the start menu, it makes it so much faster and more useful: Computer Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Search > Don't search the web or display web results in Search
