There is a rumor that Electron calls to redirect.gvt1.com (a google site) means that Google somehow spies on you. But all available information indicates that redirect.gvt1.com is a site responsible for providing downloads(spellchecker data for example), not uploads.

If you have information to the contrary, please provide.

I don't know what info they send or download. All electron apps connect to that site. That simple fact is an abuse. You open an electron app, it connects. But since Google already knows everything about everyone, maybe this is a small issue. It is not even compared to Microsoft "smartscreen" and Apple "something" I don't know the name. So this should never happen. Even apps that soon it run try to find if there are any update, are abusive. First, ask me if I want to check for updates or those amazing "spellchecker" downloads.
