Ask HN: Why so many dead comments?

I see comments here all the time marked as “Dead” by mods that are insightful often GREAT comments.

Not flagged by users but dead. I don’t believe users are piling on as there is nothing wrong with them half the time.

So why? Censorship? Propaganda?

I will sometimes see a Dead comment then another one similar to it that is promoted.

Do you have a few examples? There are a few bots account posting AI generated comments. They sound nice and are well formatted, but somewhat empty and disconnected. There are also false positives and people can "vouch" them to unkill them.

Anyway, you can send an email to [e-mail] to get an official reply by dang/tomhow.

Because it is really difficult to converse via comments. The interface for finding my own comments is a pain, let alone others.
