A new word is needed. Currently, robotics has two non-overlapping meanings: 1. Industrial robots. These robots do things humans can't do or shouldn't do. They are very strong, and dangerous because of that. We don't let them walk around. We bolt them to the floor and put barriers around them. Making and selling robots that do these things is a real business and has been for decades. 2. Human shape things that are called robots, but have zero TAM, zero successful products, and are a fake business like orbiting data centers and mass drivers on the moon. |
