A pop song (even a teriffic one) has a shelf life of a few months, whereas code running in production, either foundational or in larger systems may be there for years. That's where developers need to build things that last, and things turn to more technically complex musical genres like Jazz or Classical where the music may not be catchy - but will last a long time. The lasting pop songs are the ones hardest to compose, but maybe the most beutiful - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBDF04fQKtQ |
