I built Getweeks (getweeks.com) because I couldn't find a tool that sits between "contemplative memento mori poster" and "todo list app". The idea: visualize your life in weeks, set 3-5 real life goals, attach milestones and lifestyle changes to each, then do a 2-minute weekly check-in. Your past weeks get colored based on how you lived them.

Stack: Next.js, MongoDB, Shadcui, Tailwind, Stripe. Built solo in a few weeks.

Would love feedback from the HN crowd — especially on the check-in mechanic and whether the free tier (3 goals, 50 milestones) makes sense.

This is cool! The UI is very slick. I made lifeweeks.app around this time last year, and have wanted to add more future-facing stuff ever since. There's some fun ideas in here I might "borrow" :)

I tried to figure out ideas for monetizing lifeweeks when it blew up, but I just don't think there is much money in apps like this. Maybe if you can do something around physical products, e.g. posters or something and take a cut or affiliate. But I think these apps just don't have the shape of something that people think they should pay for. Would be happy to be proven wrong though!

Really helpful feedback, thanks a lot. i have to admit i mostly agree with you. i started from the assumption that today Getweeks is a one-off, lifetime purchase. i didn’t build it to make millions — that wouldn’t be realistic anyway. it’s more part of a broader flow of building small apps until i land on an idea that solves a truly painful problem, and by then my execution will be really dialed in
