If you want your mind blown, think back that in 2015, 8GB RAM was considered a lot of RAM and people would regularly compile linux and freebsd kernels on such systems.

8GB RAM was not a lot in 2015. It was similar to 16gb today in terms of usability.

When I bought a MBA in 2014, 4GB was considered borderline insufficient, even for a casual user.
