It lasted because React genuinely did introduce a useful new paradigm - of UI being a (mostly) pure function of state. This has actual benefits. Unfortunately the way this was implemented was (very) suboptimal, and now they're locked in. I agree that this stubborn clutching to that original idea, despite better options that acheive the same paradigm having arisen in the meantime. |
