Most US States have "at will employment" meaning they can dismiss you for whatever reason barring a few protected ones like racism. So yeah they can do that there, there are no protections. Maybe they can't force you to sign a new contract but then they'll just end your current one and let you go. We really have things good here in Europe. Unions are only part of it and I personally prefer legal protection because it applies to everyone, not just industries that are unionised. In Holland the unions are kinda compromised anyway in the neoliberal "poldermodel" which means they rub shoulders with the execs and work together. I don't think opposing forces should do that. |
