This is a perfect example of users being forced to hack around product limitations. Google Assistant has gotten progressively worse over the years - more ads, slower responses, and losing the ability to do basic tasks it used to handle. The fact that people are resorting to custom integrations and local LLMs shows there's a real gap in the market. Google had a huge head start but seems more interested in monetization than actually improving the core experience. Would love to see more open-source alternatives that run locally. The privacy benefits alone make it worth the effort. |
