Sure, you can download and install GOG games today using a third-party client, but it'll never be as good as official support. There's also the issue of syncing saved games and achievements, not to mention the additional friction for less tech-savvy users. |

It isn't any harder to use Heroic Launcher than it is to use Steam and some distros have both in their repositories.
