I once read the the cheapest way to save a human life (ahem, the way to save the most lives for a given amount of money) is to spend it on DDT. DDT is also a "very bad, evil, and wicked" thing - for anyone educated between 1970 and 2010. I remember cartoons having villains who were seeking to make DDT legal again - that's how stigmatized it is. The EA people did a pretty good job rehabilitating DDT. Good for them. But the problem is there still asking, "What's the cheapest way to save a human life?" |
