I'm reminded of a rather unpopular statement made by Mark Shuttleworth > Don’t trust us? Erm, we have root. You do trust us with your data already. You trust us not to screw up on your machine with every update By using Windows, you're impicitly trusting Microsoft and every update they make and that it won't screw things up. If you've somehow stuck around past the integrated ads, screwy install process that forces you to have an online account, and the thousands of other papercuts then you shouldn't be surprised to find some other user hostile move has taken place. That said, I agree that Microsoft can't really be trusted with anything.
