It really depends, e.g. take a look at PostgreSQL, which is licensed under the PostgreSQL License, which is similar to MIT. IMHO a MIT license is better than AGPL with a Contributor License Agreement (CLA) like with Elastic. Gitea is MIT, so free and open-source, permissive.
