> I think because we already have non-text based terminal succesors. We've had them for a long time. There have been multiple graphics standards terminals supported - Tektronix, ReGIS, Sixels, up to richer, less successful interfaces (such as AT&T's Blit and its successors - all gorgeous, all failed in the marketplace). The notebook interface popularized by iPython is an interesting one, but it's not really a replacement for a terminal. |
