Porn consumption, especially at the scale we see today, us pretty new. Not 2020s new, but it wasn't that long ago when porn was "that one magazine passed around at school" and an "addiction" to porn just wasn't possible for most, certainly anyone under 18.

Not adding a value judgement to any of that, but I've seen this sentiment a few times and it jars with my experiences at least. Porn today is basically infinite, you can construct a whole world for yourself out of it and exist within it almost entirely.

Damn near everyone under 40 today grew up with basically infinite internet porn on tap and doesn't seem worse off for it. Seems to be working out better than lead gas.
My point is, it's not like other types of media contents aren't consumed at the same rate. Everything's on tap, not just porn. Classical literature, music, movies, everything is basically infinite. You can construct a whole world for yourself out of it and exist within <insert media genre> almost entirely. So what's the deal with singling out porn?

The theory I have is it's because porn and porn-adjacent contents are slowly replacing Western contents. AIs are used to generate anime porn and specifically Ghibli-style contents. Those kids don't know if it's technically possible to do an AI Marvel porn. I think that's what actually upsets people.

Don't give the GenAI people ideas, oh wait, too late.
