My company bought one of those Sony Spatial Reality Displays a couple of weeks ago and I have to say it is truly impressive, the 3D effect is really convincing.
I just tried this demo and it is cool, but nowhere as good.
The Sony display uses a parallax barrier with eye tracking, like a Nintendo 3DS on steroids. It projects a different image for each eye, there is no way you can replicate the effect with a standard display unless you use shutter glasses.
