I see this narrative a lot from Americans who often hold the EU/Europe (also often conflated when they're not the same thing) as some kind of utopia when it comes to stuff like that. In reality, while it is nowhere near as bad as in the US, but there are school shootings and similar issues on a semi regular basis across Europe.
