Because I think social media is inherently evil, and by creating and account (even a dummy one as you described) I would still be feeding a beast that I would rather see dead. It does help with self control - I intentionally hamstring my ability to see Instagram (and other social media) content by following a slightly cumbersome procedure on Telegram that also makes it impossible for me to search or view any related content. But that is a second-order benefit. |
