I dont know what CPU OVH is using, because all the others are AMD EPYC or Newer Intel Xeon. But the pricing difference is too great that even if they were Intel E-Core CPU it would still be pretty damn good deal.

[1] There is a cheaper option from Intel vCPU, but those hardware are older and is only available when other customers cancel their plan to free up slot. So only the newer AMD option is used for comparison.

Well Hetzner's "VPS" [1] is more like the "Cloud" [2] from OVH rather than OVH's VPS [3]

Not that their pricing isn't really really good, but it depends on your use-case. DO / Linode / Upcloud / EC2 / etc. do have an insane pricing in comparison, yes.

Shame OVH has no availability in North America (except Canada)

You need to keep an eye on the configurator page, or monitor it some other way. AFAIK they don't have many servers in the USA, so their US VPSes are available sporadically when people cancel theirs.

You have to order through the OVHcloud US site to see the US locations. If you use their "global" / Canadian site, you'll only see the Canada location.

Why not get a dedicated server from OVH\Hetzner at that point?

I am with Hezners VPS with dedicated CPU Cores - which gives you more predictable performance. You don't have to worry about hardware failures (especially for harddisks or SSDs) as I would assume Hetzner uses some sort of redundant systems with network-attached, redundant storage. In multiple years, uptime has been great so far with no faiulres, with an exception where they announced that they have to upgrade some routers and the system will not be reachable for a couple of hours - but this came weeks in advance. The host system was also simply not reachable, but not rebooted.

Plus, you have the option of scaling up/down very easily if you do not grow your harddisk size beyond the minimum configuration.
