Hmm, not really a cruder version of this. ESCOS is simply a wholy other trick, which also happens to be incompatible with this technique. As far as I know, it's not possible to open the side border while also performing FLI. Not trying to downplay ESCOS - it was an important effect and release, foundational even. Just has nothing to do at all with FLI, NUFLI or now this NUFLIX variant, except that it was another nice and important timing-based VIC chip hack. |
