To be clear, I'm not at all a DANE advocate -- I agree with you wholeheartedly. Even if all of those problems with DANE were magically resolved it would still be an administrative nightmare to manage (especially in a world with short certificate lifetimes) and so would likely still have very little adoption anyway.
