The EU is not a single mind, it is many party democracy. Yes there are forces in it that have been pushing for "lawful interception" for some time now. And they have always failed to ban E2E-encryption. In the USA there exist similar forces who also introduced bills with similar ideas multiple times in the last decade. One of those is currently in congress. |
