While Amazon is mostly its online store and AWS, they do have teams that do robotics and other hardware related things. I'd suggest taking the job and learning as much you can for the first 2-3 years while keeping an eye open for opportunities for an internal transfer to a team that is working on a hardware project that interests you.

That's what I was thinking. I'm coming out of college and have a lot to learn swe wise so it would be very good for me to actually grind it out now. Part in the back of my head is saying I'm just trying to chase the new shiny thing rather than just focusing on my fundamentals.

I'm just having some fomo I think. It's a shame that this year is when a lot of the math started clicking for me in ML.
