The relationship between humans and computers is at a fork. With fork 1 we harness computers intentionally as tools, which we can all control and use to improve our prospects. With fork 2 our interactions with computers shape and unintentionally undermine how we see each other and ourselves. Excluding dubious predictions of an AI singularity; whose intentions, if any, will influence which fork we take ? |
