Gmail is not easier than any other mail provider. Quite the contrary as traditionnal email providers are usually more user friendly.
A store is a store. In my experience aurora is not more complicated than the google playstore.
As for storage I don't think google drive is less complicated thant the competition. I don't need cloud storage anyway except from secondary backup site which would be stupid to use throguh google anyway even if I was using an account.
Not OP, but I have a small Nas at home, and a small raspberry with owncloud with the drives mapped. I run it all behind tailscale so all my devices have access to everything from anywhere. Backups are being migrated but I have my home pc as a backup while switching providers.
NAS at home, with a an old desktop machine working as local backup server. I have a cloud storage as secondary backup as mentionned earlier. Google drive/one would not be fit for that anyway as it is super expensive for very small amount of storage.
