Google has a walled garden as well. Talking to my less techy friends, they won't even consider the thought of moving just because their purchases won't carry over. Even if said app exists on both platforms, you'd have to buy it again. |

For the Smartphone OS, maybe yes. But not for the Hardware, Services and the rest of its *entire* ecosystem.
Google is not the savior for that industry, it's just the only real alternative (until some regulation hopefully enables a competitor to rise)
