My partner and I have basically decided not to have children at this point for the exact reason you stated. The rate of change at the moment is dizzying and I’m not sure that the future we’re heading toward is one that I’d want my kids to be part of.

It is dire and your conclusion is valid, having children in the face of uncertainty allows you to influence the future though. Even if it means sacrificing your children at the altar, gives them the opportunity to influence the future too.
