Because that's easier to control. In my case, I rarely use my laptops on battery, and when I do I tend to keep an eye on the battery level. If I have to use it till empty, it's because I'm actually doing something that needs to be done, so too bad for the battery life. If I'm randomly browsing HN, I'll stop around 20-30% and go do something else. With charging, I can't plug and unplug my screen every 5 minutes just to keep it around 80%. |
