Does the directive specify that haptic warning must mean a steering wheel jerk? Seems like carmakers have 2 alternatives: 1) use sound + visuals 2) use any other form of haptic feedback. Vibrate the steering wheel. Vibrate the driver's seat. Anything but jerking the steering wheel. |

So there's a clear incentive to involve the motors which control steering, which is inherently going to feel terrifying.
