Yeah I think TIMTOWTDI ended up being a net negative. Of course with experience and learning the idioms (perl is very idiomatic) it's not so bad but it really adds to the cognitive load for a beginner. There is still a lot of perl around but I'd be a little surprised if any new projects would use it at least where it doesn't already have a big presence. |
