mdadm can be scripted using any ordinary system health monitoring system. On some servers I was responsible for, I had automatic monitoring setup configured to send e-mail the instant any drive failure was noticed. This is one of the nice things with open software. I can't imagine the trouble it would be to do the same for a proprietary raid card. |
