Researchers have discovered that the cowpea mosaic virus (from black-eyed peas) can activate the human immune system to attack cancer cells, without infecting human tissue. Unlike other plant viruses, CPMV triggers a strong interferon response, making it a promising, low-cost immunotherapy. The team is moving toward clinical trials, and the approach could open a new front in cancer treatment using plant-based biotechnology. Is this a viable treatment and can we one day stop using Chemotherapy? |
