FWIW uBlock Origin Lite (the MV3 version of uBlock Origin) seems pretty much just as good, at least to me.

For what it's worth, rudimentary (but persistent) css-based filters with a nifty element picker was implemented two weeks ago:

It's great, and it still even works permissionless!
