Sharing this letter that I was sent (and I co-signed) via the research in undergraduate mathematics education group of the MAA.

I thought this might get some traction among those who are actually using the mathematics and hire the students whose education we'd like to improve.

so, something like a multi-summer Pre-freshman Engineering Program[0] as way to identify "the students whose education we'd like to improve." ?
