I’m self taught from a single digit age and yet I went and got a degree and it was eye opening. It was mostly a vocational thing with an absolute assgrind of a program that drops most of the students in the first 2 years, and just beats down into a pulp the remaining ones for the next 1-2. 16 hour days of nothing but projects, individual and team. By the time I landed my first job I think i worked harder on personal projects than I ever have at work. I also ended up tutoring proper CS nerds in things like graph theory and functional programming concepts. So, YMMV. |
