The 'jail' is beneficial in that it allows high-quality apps to be made. If iOS users could just install apps from anywhere, piracy would mean a reduction in the quality and quantity of apps that developers are willing to make for it. Even tech-savvy people buy iOS devices knowing that they are restricted in this way, and reap the benefits. |
