There are some wonderful photos and stories here, salute to the people at Texas Highways for putting this together. From the article: "The day was dubbed Emancipation Day but, slowly, the term Juneteenth — a portmanteau of June and 19th — took hold." Debating the name instead of appreciating the holiday and gravity of the topic is missing the forrest for the trees. Just wow. |
