People already mentioned that Lua is very lightweight and easy to integrate. It's also significantly faster than Python. (I'm not even talking about LuaJIT.) Another big reason: the Lua interpreter does not have any global variables (and therefore also no GIL) so you can have multiple interpreters that are completely independent from each other. |
