A few years ago I started experimenting with embedding V8, one thing led to another and I was suddenly down this rabbit hole building a rudimentary IDE to create standalone applications with JavaScript. It was a lot of fun building all the different parts and I learned a lot porting it to macOS. Is anyone still interested in cross platform development for desktop apps (Windows & macOS)? Yes, it's similar to Electron, but mine uses native UI components and there are no prerequisites to get started.
